So how do you stick to a New Year's resolution? Especially if it's to become financial fit? Determination - and a plan!
If you take small steps to achieve your goal you can do it. If the 'you' is a couple - then both partners need to be on board with the plan - if not it's just going to cause more stress.
Secondly, share your plan with friends. They don't need to know all the dirty details but I'm sure you are not the only one in your group that is having some financial pains. Plus, if you tell your friends your resolution they will support you or even join in themselves. I'm sure you are not the only one that would like to achieve financial fitness!
If you are not sure about your friends, I would recommend finding a group with the same goal. Share articles - tips and challenges that you have encountered. Very similar to any weight loss group that is out there. Or follow a blog... they always have tips and experts to ask advice of. If you need direction check out the Life Events Planner it is full of calculators and tracking devices to keep track of all your money!
You have to know where the money goes before you can start to save it!
